Daily Clone war Conflict: Battle of Christophsis

The Battle of Christophsis was one of the first major conflicts in the Clone War. I will give you the step by step of both the Grand Army of the Republic's strategy, as well as the united confederacy of planets. I will also tell you the battle plans of each side, the generals and leaders in the battle, and the troops each side had.


A couple of months after the Battle of Geonosis, Count Dooku dispatched assassin Asajj Ventress and General Whorm Loathsom to capture Christophsis due to it's very strategic location on the Corellian Run and it's resources, while Admiral Trench blockaded the planet with 30 warships to prevent Republic forces from liberating the planet. As a result, the Republic had sent a relief force with Senator Bail Organa to help aid the people of Christophsis who had become trapped during the invasion.

Eventually, the Christophsians were forced to plea with the Republic for help due to worsening conditions and supplies. The Republic decided to act in favor of this and responded by sending Jedi Generals Anakin Skywalker and Obi-wan Kenobi to disrupt the blockade and deliver relief supplies to the planet. Skywalker was sent first with his flagship, The Resolute and a group of Venator class Star Destroyers while Kenobi followed with his flagship The Negotiator. Kenobi also brought along a prototype stealth ship with a cloaking device.

The first sign of action we get is when Skywalker's fleet enters Christophsian space and engages Admiral Trench's fleet over Christophsis. Each exchange fire and one of Skywalker's supply ships gets blasted to bits after being hit by increased blaster fire.

Kenobi jumps out of hyperspace and tells Skywalker to call off his attack, stating that he has "a new toy" that will help them get past the blockade. Skywalker reluctantly calls off his assault. Meanwhile over in Admiral Trench's flagship, a tactical droid asks them if they should pursue the ships. Trench refuses stating that their orders were to blockade and not to chase. He tells the droids to recycle the shields and let the cannons reset to a full charge so as to be prepared for the next wave. 

Skywalker joins Kenobi on The Negotiator asking why Kenobi brought him here. Kenobi responds by showing him a prototype stealth ship.

Skywalker states that the ship is pretty small to destroy an entire fleet. Kenobi Responds to Anakin by stating that he won't be fighting. Kenobi tells Skywalker that he wants him to run a relief mission down to the planet's surface for Bail Organa and the Christophsians. This causes Skywalker to get irritated with Kenobi, stating that he was "still the delivery boy." Meanwhile, Admiral Yularen does reasearch on the opposing flagship to realize that the ship is the flagship of none other Trench. Yularen is shocked and comns an officer to tell them to hold skywalkers departure. Skywalker ask the Admiral the reason for holding his departure. Yularen tells Skywalker that he recognized the tactics of Admiral Trench. Skywalker replies stating that "if I remember my military history, wasn't he vaporized at the battle of Malastare Narrows?" Yularen confirms this but states that the tactics and strategies were the same. Yularen also shows Skywalker a symbol that was on Trench's flagship that told others who was in command of said vessel. Yularen states that he's seen Trench's work first hand. Skywalker allows Yularen to assist him in his "relief mission. They board the stealth ship and activate the cloaking device.

 As they start to approach the blockade, Trench decides to put pressure on the Republic forces by sending a bombing run down to the planets surface. Trench dispatches his Hyena-class bombers to bomb the surface. The bombers almost hit Skywalker and the Stealth ship but the pass overhead. Yularen states that from the trajectory they are headed, the bombers were going to bomb Bail Organa.

As a result, Skywalker decides to prepare to attack Trench's flagship. Skywalker asks his co-pilot what sort of weaponry they have on this ship. The pilot states that they have anti air guns and torpedoes, but they would have to decloak to use either.  He tells the pilot to prep the torpedoes. Yularen states that their torpedoes might not be enough. Skywalker states that he wants Trench's attention on them not on the city below. It is ironically at this point that Trench is wondering what the Republic is planning. It is at this point that Skywalker's ship decloaks and Trench spots them. Skywalker gives the command to fire and they launch 4 torpedoes at Trench's command ship. However, Trench activates his thermo-shields which negate the torpedoes.

After launching their volley of torpedoes, Skywalker's orders to recloak. Trench launches 2 missles at their ship, however Skywalker tells the pilot to prep their flares. They launch them at the missles are diverted and the ship recloaks. Trench orders that a spread of lasers be fired so that they might hit the ship. Skywalker, using the Force to aid him, dodges these lasers. Trench notices that lasers have missed, but states that he learned something. He says, "No clone could dodge that many lasers blasts, we are dealing with a Jedi." He then orders that he be patched into the comm channel on all frequencies. He states

"if you are listening Jedi, then you have made a bold move and a grave mistake. I appreciate you decision to face me ship to ship, to play this little game. Its been so long since I've had a worthy opponent. You have an impressive new vessel, but I warn you, I have dealt with its kind before. Your technology will not save you, and your friends on the planet below shall perish as a result of your failure. The people of Christophsis and her resources will join the separatist Alliance. Turn back now, retreat while you can, for I am your DOOM."

Yularen states that Trench says hes dealt with this kind of ship before. Skywalker asks how. Meanwhile on Trench's command ship, a tactical droid states they calculate that the Jedi will not turn back like Trench requested. Trench states he did not expect them to. He says that a stealth ship could have gotten past their blockade easily, and that this Jedi chose to attack. Back on the stealth ship, Kenobi informs Skywalker and Yularen that there are records of Trench fighting other ships, some with cloaking devices. Skywalker asks Kenobi how Trench defeated the cloaked ships. Kenobi told them that he somehow used tracking torpedoes to hit the ships whether they were cloaked or not.  Skywalker asks what class ship he was fighting. Kenobi responds with "mostly cruiser to cruiser, nothing as small as your ship." Skywalker states that no ship this small usually has a cloaking device. Skywalker then comes to the conclusion that maybe Trench is tracking their ship's magnetic signature. He then thanks Kenobi and tells him to hold off his attack until they destroy Trench. Kenobi tells Skywalker that it was not his mission to destroy Trench. Anakin states that it wasn't before ending their communication. Skywalker orders Yularen to tell the men to prepare to decloak their ship and fire. They fire 4 torpedoes at Trench's ship. Trench activates his shields and locks on to the Ship's magnetic Signature. Trench orders that they arm their tracking torpedoes and fire them. His tactical droid states that they could not fire unless they lower their shields. Trench orders that they lower their shields and to fire. Trench's ship launches 4 torpedoes and they head toward the stealth ship. Yularen tells Skywalker that he hopes he knows what Skywalker is doing. Skywalker tells Yularen that so does he. They turn the ship around and Skywalker order to divert all power to the engines.  They start to head to Trench's flagship. Trench realizes what their strategy is and tells his tactical droid to activate their shields, however, they are still recharging. The torpedoes hit the bridge and destroy it. Allowing the rest of the republic fleet to bring supplies and finish off the blockade that the seperatists started.
